“Why do we need these? We got there OK, didn’t we?”
“Of course. Weren’t the directions good – prevented those usual navigational rows.
Oh…we see. “
Still, let’s wind back to when you looked at these directions for the first time, long before your holiday, because it’s when they first arrive in your email box, that you might benefit from this alert for all potential drivers.
The villa is so convenient for Nice Airport, that your friends and family, some of them no doubt planning to turn up in dribs and drabs rather than for the whole holiday, will all expect you to meet them. Unless you ruthlessly coordinate their arrival and departure days and times, you will become as familiar with this journey to the airport as a local taxi driver, back and forth, back and forth. Beware!
Anyway, to get to Nice Cote d’Azur Airport, turn RIGHT at the roundabout at the end of the Chemin des Trois Feuillets, the road leading from your villa. Follow direction to Nice. Proceed through the rest of Roquefort-les-Pins, past the boulangerie, the petrol station (fill petrol before returning the car)and the auberge. You are back on the D2085 and should follow signs for Ville Neuve Lubert. Pass through the village ,go under the bridge to the next round about. Take 2nd exit to Nice via A8.Carry on to the next round about take first exit straight to the tool booth.
Follow A8 to Nice Cote d’Azur airport, avoiding the temptation of the outside lane because at EXIT 51 you have to take a RIGHT FILTER signposted to Nice Airport. This is easily missed, and it is a very long way back.
Immediately you leave the motorway, you are confronted with a driver’s nightmare. The filter takes you to the edge of a two-way road which you have to cross (with traffic coming from your left and then, immediately from your right) in order to turn left (merging with any traffic coming from your right). This brings you on to a poorly signposted roundabout where you take the THIRD EXIT to Nice Cote d’Azur Airport.
Otherwise, at the airport, enter and keep in the right hand lane to return your hire car, or select a car park if you are meeting new arrivals.
For Terminal 1, follow signs for car park P1 and keep in the lane adjacent to the terminal to drop off passengers without more than a very brief stop. Otherwise, take the last entry point into P1, which is the park closest to the terminal. This is the most expensive car park, with a maximum two-hour stay, and is often full.
In P3, the first 30 minutes’ stay is free.
For Terminal 2, follow P5 and keep left, entering the lane adjacent to the terminal to drop off passengers. Otherwise, follow signs to P5, which allows a stay of 20 minutes without charge.
